Katherine & Brucie
Katherine and Brucie got married on a crisp bright autumn day in October, in everybody’s favourite seaside town Brighton.
Katherine loves colour as demonstrated by her pink hair and this was never going to be your ‘usual’ wedding. Katherine and Brucie’s edgy style was picked up in the flower choice as Katherine came to me with an idea for bright colours and succulents in her bouquet.
I used a mixture of seasonal flowers and foliage with sunflowers taking a prominent part along with the succulents. I used bright pink lisianthus and pale pink astilbe, orange germinis and striking blue gentiana. The blousy, vuvuzela roses added a soft pinkish peach which was picked up by the pink edges of the green succulents.
The yellow craspedia added a fun lollipop shape and the bouquet was finished with the beautiful green and pink acacia foliage, white September flowers, white lisianthus, white veronica, mint, and a mixture of eucalyptus. It was wrapped in turquoise ribbon which was pinned with pearl headed pins. I made four similar but smaller bouquets for the bridesmaids.

I planted fifty teacups with succulents for the table decorations, and created a white and green crown for Katherine’s hair. In addition, I made eight colourful buttonholes finished with natural twine using a mixture of the smaller headed flowers and did a similar design on four combs for the bridesmaids’ hair.
Katherine and Brucie’s wedding had a real sense of fun and not taking themselves too seriously! I mean - who else puts a denim jacket over their silver coloured wedding dress and rocks it?! Their wedding not only reflected them but also the artistic, cosmopolitan style that Brighton exudes as a city. Indeed, Katherine could be found riding a bus a few days later still wearing her floral crown, because that’s pretty normal in Brighton!
